2011 Season Review - MUENCH wins all four Championship titles
Promising season opening
The season opening in Magny Cours started out very promising for last year’s world champion MUENCH Racing Team. Not only did the team set another race record for fastest lap that was 15 seconds faster than their old record but during the qualifying they took advantage of the pole position and declassed their competition with their new and improved TTE-1.2. Unfortunately and due to a technical fault in the battery area Matthias Himmelmann was not able to join the battle for victory during the final race. However, he did manage to save the day by crossing the goal line second and earning important points for the FIM e-Power racing series.
Mai 2011: Double accomplished by two MUENCH-drivers in Schleiz
Only a month later MUENCH achieved the next sensation during their homebound race in Schleiz (Germany): A classic double accomplished by Matthias Himmelmann and Thomas Mertens during the FIM e-Power International Championship race. Accordingly, the team approached the TTXGP eGrandPrix in Silverstone (UK) with great enthusiasm. And then the big catastrophe happened! A fire that originated from the battery area heavily damaged the TTE-1.2 which did not only cause the team to lose the race but also forced them to provisionally release their new motorcycle, the TTE-2.
Unbeatable with TTE-2
Head of development Thomas Schuricht and his team had to work hard to improve the TTE-2 prototype and get it ready just in time for the next race. After only 14 days their mission was accomplished and Matthias Himmelmann came back impressively with another victory during the eGrandPrix in Spa-Franchorchamps (BEL).
Out of the five remaining races MUENCH won four and set numerous records. During three of these success stories driver Matthias Himmelmann proofed his outstanding talent with unambiguous start to finish victories. The most amazing racing moments however took place in France and Great Britain.
The end of the season becomes to a series of wins
On September 23rd MUENCH did not only win the FIM e-Power International Individual Rankings and Construction Category but also came in first during the European TTXGP race prior to the 24 hours of LeMans (France). This sensational day was only topped by the TTXGP world final in Anglesey (Great Britain) four weeks later. Matthias Himmelmann pulled off yet another start to finish victory coming in first with a 40 second lead. After their outstanding achievements there is only one thing left to say: At the end of the season MUENCH Racing Team is only a few seconds behind the actual Super Sport motorcycles with actual internal-combustion engines that race on the same speedways.
