The e-racing crown goes to …

This year e-powered racing sport teams competed for four championship titles. We won all four of them! After winning the FIM e-Power construction category as well as both, the FIM and TTXGP European single rankings the traditional German brand MUENCH secured another sensational victory at the TTXGP “World Final” last Sunday.

Just like in 2010 we once again won the e-racing crown!

During the open practice the team already proofed that the MUENCH TTE-2 is a class of its own. With a high speed of 190km/h and a lap time of 1.42 for 2.1 miles Matthias Himmelmann was able to break away from main opponent Ho ChiFung who crossed the finish line four seconds behind Himmelmann. At the same time racing bikes from the 70’s participated in the competition. This constrained Himmelmann and his pursuit of fast lap times.

“During the Qualifying we came in first in front of David Hallett and Ho ChiFung,” explains team manager Thomas Petsch on racing Sunday. “The final race started at 2pm and we all hoped for yet another start to finish victory.” Eventually Matthias Himmelmann came in first with a healthy margin of 40 seconds before Ho ChiFung. But that’s not all there is. As the cherry on the cake Himmelmann accomplished a sensational lap time of 1.39 during his last lap. With this start to finish victory head of development Thomas Schuricht and his team once again accomplished something sensational. “The British racing enthusiasts were more than impressed that one can already go that fast on an e-bike. They do understand however, that e-racing is the future,” said Thomas Petsch. The emission-free racing sport is supported by an on-site wind power station in the pit lane where all e-bikes are charged.

The fastest machines achieved a lap time of 1.37 this weekend. With their time of 1.39 MUENCH is hard on their heels!

MÜNCH wins TTXGP World Final!

Yesterday afternoon in Anglesey, Wales: ‘Start to finish victory’ for Matthias Himmelmann, Thomas Petsch, Thomas Schuricht and the whole team!

With over 40 seconds ahead of the followers the MUENCH Racing Team wins the World Final of the TTXGP and secures the last titles of the season: victory in the constructing engineer category and first place in the overall drivers ranking of the eGrandPrix race series.

More information and photographs will follow soon…

The FIM publishes regularly videos of their races. There in are close-ups while the bikes are racing, views behind the scenes and interviews. Matthias Himmelmann gave such an interview at 3.11 in the video which was shoot in Le Mans. Everybody can see the overwhelming joy of the MUENCH driver after the title win in the electric-motorcycle-racing series FIM e-Power International Championship and the TTXGP European Championship.

Have fun!

By securing both, the FIM e-Power International championship and TTXGP European Championship titles during the final race last Friday, the German MUENCH Racing Team achieved yet another sensational success. With their success in Le Mans, MUENCH engineers proved that German engineering belongs to the state of the art. E-mobility from Germany can definitely compete with the best in the world. MUENCH secures with this success the popular FIM constructors’ title.

The last part of their way to success began on Wednesday. During the open practice, MUENCH driver Matthias Himmelmann set another record for the fastest lap time improving the old record by more than 25 seconds. But that’s not all there is! During the qualifying round on Thursday, he was able to improve his record by another 4 seconds. With a sensational time of 1’25”939 he came in first on Bugatti Circus – 4 seconds ahead of his competitors.

Obviously, Matthias Himmelmann started then from the pole position at the final race on Friday afternoon. With no sign of a threat from his competitors, he achieved another great start-to-finish victory. “We were able to increase our lead over the chasing pack even further. On the last laps, I was even more cautious, and took less risk to avoid running out of power. I was really surprised with the 34-second lead we had at the end. Each development stage we’ve gone through in the last weeks has definitely helped position us ahead of the pack. Today’s victory and the win of both championship titles could not have been achieved without our fantastic team. I am truly happy”, stated Matthias Himmelmann after the race.

As the winner of the European TTXGP championship, the MUENCH Racing Team can now join the world championship and can compete with the world’s best electric motorcycle teams in October. The European TTXGP teams will then meet up with the North American (and their winner- Steve Atlas, Brammo) as well as the Australian teams. “We’re going to show our best at the world final”, says Team Manager Thomas Petsch, “a big thanks to all our sponsors. Their support played a crucial role in our victory and with SCHOTT Solar as the main MUENCH sponsor, we are going to get the solar energy much closer to the racetrack in 2012.”

„We are full of great and bold ideas for the future and we are still looking out for partners to embark with us on this thrilling e-racing challenge”, so Thomas Petsch in a short final prospect.

Results in short:
- Matthias Himmelmann wins the race in Le Mans ahead of Alessandro Brannetti (CRP Racing, Italy) and Ho Chi Fung (Zongshen, China)

Prior to the Le Mans 24 hour motor bike race this upcoming Saturday e-bike teams will fight out the European and FIM e-Power International Championship rankings. Reaching for both, the TTXGP Championship and global FIM Championship title, MUENCH Racing Team from Germany has to be taken into account when discussing who might win. Leading both overall rankings driver Matthias Himmelmann can calmly approach the upcoming races.

With his sensational victory on the rather slow course in Karlskoga three weeks ago, Matthias Himmelmann persuasively extended his lead in the TTXGP racing series. “We changed lots of little parts to adapt the TTE-2 to the slow course and make it more stable,” explained Head of Development Thomas Schuricht. “This was the key to succeed”. Thanks to the extremely flexible developers, drivers, team and bike MUENCH was able to repeatedly be in the fore.

“In Le Mans I expect a top speed of more than 200km/h”, said Matthias Himmelmann. “It’s a fast and very twisty course. “ As it seems this mixture is perfect for the MUENCH e-bike. Using a long straight to achieve top form driver Himmelmann just loves to lean into a curve and gently stroke the asphalt with his knee. First tests in Le Mans were already successfully completed at the beginning the season. Hence, the anticipation for the closing race of the European championship is getting bigger and bigger. “I am looking forward to this wonderful race track, the race itself and of course, the Le Mans 24 hours program,” stated the MEUNCH driver. “On Saturday night Status Quo will play a show and the team, our sponsor SCHOTT Solar and our fans will definitely attend it.” Teammanager Thomas Petsch, who strongly believes in the team’s success complemented with the words: “Hopefully with both championship titles in our hands.”

Until then batteries, transverter and engine have to ride out quite much to be victorious during the final and closing races of the TTXGP European Championship and FIM e-Power International Championship. Although the team is ahead of the field with a comfortable lead e-MUENCH cannot permit another failure.
