Actor Gérard Depardieu in the movie Mammuth, a sort of French road movie that was first seen at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival rides a Münch Mammut.
Münch is one of the rarest names in motorcycling, with less than 250 bikes ever built and the Mammoth, or Mammut in German, as it was branded, was for its size and bulk. Designed by German engineer Friedel Münch who believed that bigger was better, so he fitted his bikes with 4 cylinder inline NSU car engines.
Getting back to the movie, Depardieu plays the part of a working-class man that has reached retirement age only to find out that his former employers have forgotten to declare his earnings and in order to retire with full benefits, his only solution is seek out his past employers and he hits the road on a 70s Mammut motorbike that earned him his nickname and returns to the places of his youth and retraces his past life.
MÜNCH Racing Team is tipped for success
From 19th until 22th May of 2010 the second race of the FIM e-power championship took place on the Circuit de Albacete (Spain). The MÜNCH Racing Team started with the prototype TTE-1.
The electric motorbike has driven 2000 kilometres under this hard test conditions and only brakes and tires had to be changed. So for one year the built in parts of the motorbike are working successfully. The MÜNCH TTE-1 holds the speed records on all driven racetracks in this competition and is the runner up in the e-power championship.
Since early 2010 the engineers und technicians of the MÜNCH Racing Team have worked on the TTE-2, a pure racing machine. Through the optimization of weight and chassis, this racing motorbike will have an even better performance than the TT-1.
