In line with the 2012 TTXGP European Championship, all e-motorcycles teams will officially participate in their first race on May 19th, 2012 and May 20th, 2012. Last year’s over all champion MUENCH and its MUENCH TTE2 will also compete at the „Falkenbergs Motorbana“.

As team spokesmen Ralf Ernst clearly states: „We will open the season at full throttle,“ the reigning champion has set the bar for their upcoming season for yet another victory. „We have worked very hard during the winter and we are very happy to have found a new top sponsor, the Windreich AG,“ says Ralf Ernst. „Now we have to convert the knowledge and experience we’ve gained into quantitative results.“ Furthermore the team will equip their TTE2 with the latest battery to constantly race on a high level. During the race in Magny Cours in April they already proved that their latest developments are efficient and secured the first and second place.

The race in Sweden takes place at the „Falkenbergs Motorbana“ which is only about 10km away from the Falkenberg. The fast, winding and demanding racetrack, which was founded in 1967 is known for the Swedish Touring Car Championship and the Scandinavian Porsche Carrera Cup. „Falkenbergs Motorbana“ is 1843 m long. All participating teams and their e-bikes will have to race a total of 33,17km or 17 laps (+1 opening lap) to find out who gets to wear the crown. The distance is rather critical if one wants to race at full throttle but does not want to risk an early battery exhaustion. Hence, we can all be very curious which team is able to race a tactical but fast race.

Racing times as scheduled:
18.05.2012 – Open Practice: 12.25 – 12.50 & 17.05 – 17.30
19.05.2012 – Qualifying: 12.25 – 12.55 & 17.20 – 17.50
19.05.2012 – Warm Up: 08.45
19.05.2012 – Race: 13.35

Last Monday we were able to once again convince a political prominence of our e-bike, the MUENCH TTE 2. Bundestag member Wolfgang Tiefensee examined our racing motorbike at the VDMA’s (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau) booth at the Hannover Messe and was able to get an idea of the future, the so called electric mobility!

Wolfgang Tiefensee used to be federal minister for traffic, construction and urban development and officiated as representative for the new Leander from 2005 till 2009. The photographs clearly show that he was visibly taken with MUENCH’s latest progress.

For the third time a World Championship race was carried out in Magny Cours. The technological leader MUENCH was able to already secure two victories on this racetrack, the most recent last weekend when the team accomplished a double with Matthias Himmelmann and his newly found team mate Katja Poensgen.

„We are very happy with the results and the felicitous season opening. The time we spent developing and testing definitely paid off,“ said Matthias Himmelmann. Matthias tested a new, more balanced battery and Katja competed with the most recent engine. One could see that she was really enjoying the ride. „The feeling on the bike is so much different compared to the 250’s. Since you not only have to watch your competition but most of all your battery, you really have to drive tactically. The racing series may still be young but I’m already very glad to be a part of it.” Read more …

The new driverin of the MUENCH TTE electric motorcycle Katja Poensgen, MUENCH Manager Thomas Petsch and chairman of the board of Windreich AG Willi BalAdditional support times two for the MUENCH Racing team: With Windreich AG, former sponsor of Moto2-Worldchampion Stefan Brandl, the team was able to win yet another important partner from renewable energy industry. Windreich is not only a sponsor but will be present at the racetrack as well to experience Germany’s fastest drivers and their talent. Secondly, with their new team driver Katja Poensgen, MUENCH acquired another respected driver.

The new MUENCH sponsor operates in the regenerative industry branch and perfectly fits into the picture of an emission free racing sport. Windreich’s most increasing sector is the offshore business in the German North Sea. The market leader is characterised by taking care of everything that deals with off shore wind energy, the planning, the actual building, as well as the funding and disposition. By sponsoring MUENCH, Windreich consequently expands its e-mobility activities and will demonstrate the entire process of e-mobility at the racetracks this upcoming season when they present their self-made and mobile wind charging point.

“Amongst other things and thanks to our new found cooperation with Windreich, we were able to integrate Katja Poensgen into the team,” said MUENCH Manager Thomas Petsch. Katja Poensgen already tested the e-bike that Matthias Himmelmann later on raced to win the World Championship in 2011. Now she finally comes back to MUENCH to pursue her passion: the motorbike racing sport. “When I tested the MUENCH TTE for Polo Motorbike Magazine in Schleiz in 2011 I was really excited. I am all the more thrilled now that I actually get to race next to Matthias Himmelmann in the FIM and TTXGP racing series,” stated Katja Poensgen.

Katja Poensgen drew attention to herself when she won the Supermono Europa Cups in 1998 and Daytona Grand Prix Single Championship Cup in 1999. In 2000 she placed 6th in the 750cc Superstock European Championship individual rankings, set two lap records and achieved the fastest lap times in three races. In 2001 she was the first woman to ever earn points in the FIM 250cc World Championship. Last but not least she presented the TV Show BIKE, a SPORT 1 – Polo Motorbike Magazine, and functioned as a representative for X-Lite helmets, the German Safety Tour and Polo Motorbike Magazine.

Since March 12th, 2012 we are testing and improving our MUENCH TTE 2 in Aragon and Alcarraz. But that’s not all there is. Additionally, we are also preparing for our participation at the Retro Classics Stuttgart.

We are more than happy to welcome all visitors, fans and enthusiasts and answer all questions from March 23rd,2012 till March 25th,,2012. At the fair you not only get the chance to meet the team but to experience our TTE 2 e-bike at close range and see for yourself what to expect of the racing sport future.

As you might have noticed the 2012 season is getting closer and we are doing our best to repeatedly turn it into a great success. The official season start takes place at the FIM e-Power International Championship Race in Magny Cours on April 14th,2012. You can find all upcoming racing events in our racing calendar.
